"When Jacqueline Bouvier married Sen. John F. Kennedy in 1953, her wedding gown became one of the most photographed in American history. Yet for decades most of those who wrote about the dress omitted the name of the designer.
It was Ann Lowe, an African-American, whose clients included some of the most glittering names in New York society. But even today most people know little if anything about her.
